I've read Scott Adams too and I think he's spot on! Why not Bill Gates? Bill Gates for President!

Unfortunately the real world isn't rational :(

Why not Scott Adams? If he is rational enough to nominate Bill Gates, then perhaps he is a worthy candidate himself.
I have to admit that, on his blog if not his comic strip, he has shown himself to be a pretty creative thinker. VP maybe?

I would like to start out by saying that I'm no Microsoft lover. I don't especially care for Bill either. That being said, I do have a healthy respect for what he has done, and I agree with the creators of this site and Scott that he is probably better than any other candidate we could have.

I can think of many people that would vote for Bill Gates. Just about everybody knows who he is, and our business world would not be the same without him. He probably has a really good chance of winning if he runs.

Bill also seems to respect disagreement.

He personally is so opposed to firearms that not even his bodyguards carry.

At the same time, there is a Microsoft Gun Club (with point and click technology) and they associate under the MS name, and coordinate range trips and group buys to save money.

I'm pretty sure Bill has plans for running the Miranda/Gates foundation in 2008... didn't Buffet only give his donation on the condition that Bill stays in charge of the foundation?

Nice, nice, nice... The only question is how to convince Bill to choose to give up full control over making the world a better place through his foundation in order to not be able to accomplish as much while running the country.

Scott Adams is out. He has explicitly stated that he does not want to be president.

As for Gates: My only concern is loyalty. Do you think he would be more loyal to our country or to businesses like Microsoft. The Gates foundation suggests he might do the right thing, and probably would, but loyalty could still be a concern. Also what party can he run under? The democrats and republicans would never take him, so it would have to third party. Would people still vote for him or would it be seen as a wasted vote?

I don't have the answers, but consider the above before you try to push Gates into the oval office.

Scott Adams brought me here.

I wouldn't mind voting for Bill or Scott or the Google Duo or Steve Jobs if I had been American. Steve Jobs would create a good- looking country too.

Bill might make a very good President; FDR was probably the greatest President the USA ever had - so it's not as if being vastly wealthy makes you a poor candidate for the position.

However, electing Bill Gates as President means that in its rational self interest, America would have to get rid of the 22nd Amendment - the constitutional amendment which imposes a limit of two terms on the President.

I suggest this, as given past performance, Bill has demonstrated that he doesn't really nail any business application until the third or fourth stab at it. Presidency 1.0 and 2.0 are, therefore, likely to be rather sucky terms. 3.0? Getting there. By the time Presidency 4.0 rolls around though, Bill should have the whole job figured out and from there on out, all global competition will be wiped out and sent packing.

Bill should be president. We need someone who can't be bought and doesn't care who he alianates. He hires the people that know what they are doing and isn't afraid to speak his mind. As long as his systems would work better than Windows we would be in good shape. Just don't let him program the computers for our wars. :o)

You have my vote!!! Republican or Democrat I don't care. The man would rock and shake some things up. The only that would give him a good run would be Ruldolph Guliania (SP?).

Good Luck and hopefully we can get him on the ticket!!!! America needs someone like him!!!!

If you are going to make a serious nerd run, you are going to have Jobs as your VP. Or you could for the anti-nerd vote with George Clooney for VP. Hmm. I need to think about this.

We need a serious self-funded non-politician. I mean, look at what the parties are coming up with: http://www.surveyusa.com/?gclid=CPTu5KDJ8IgCFSXeSAod7jY9vQ

Well, while it does seem like a good idea now, I would just hope it would be _after_ he steps down from Microsoft... could you imagine what kind of monopoly they would be running if they had they freakin' president of the USA on their side??
