Welcome to Bill Gates for President dot net. After loads of hard work we’re finally ready to launch the website and start sharing our views on the 2008 (and 2012!) presidential elections and why we believe Bill Gates should run for president. Expect this web page to evolve slowly, hopefully reaching cruising speed somewhere in the first months of 2007.

Our first goal is to be heard. We would love to evoke thought and will try to stimulate debates in our personal way. We have no problem with different opinions. We feel very strongly about support political discussions. Our dream, getting Bill and Melinda in the White House, might not be too realistic in the short run. But don’t worry: we’ll be here along the way, even if it takes a decade. Enjoy reading our website!

Ah, yes, Bill Gates the visionary:

“640k ought to be enough for anybody.” - Bill Gates, 1981

  2. 2 Mike Williamson

Did he say that was an end limit for all eternity? Or just that it was enough at that particular time in history?

I once decided I’d find $500 a month adequate income…when supported by the GI Bill in part, attending college full time, with a working girlfriend and two other housemates. That doesn’t mean that I’d be able to live on that now.

Has anyone attempted to contact Bill about this? This whole thing is kind of pointless if he has no desire to be President.

  4. 4 Elliott Levine

Bill has had the solution for years. As President, he can now use the Microsoft approach to solve all of the complex and, up to now, seemingly unsolveable problems faced by the U.S. Just do a governmental “Restart” and all the problems will go away.

  5. 5 Aaron

If he’s president, won’t that put him in a position to ban linux for all eternity?

  6. 6 Jeffrey Frady

I think Bill Gates would make a great president. As long as he isn’t going to be involving the influence of Microsoft too much, I’m happy.

I’ll vote for him, surely he has all the winning solutions to a country too.

  8. 8 Linan Wang

Well, Steve Jobs may do better. :) I think the problem is, how can he possibly avoid misusing the power to “help” Microsoft?
    Wait… it’s seems not right.
Only if Bill Gates involves into politics, he could sell out all his shares without any trouble. It’s the only way he can quit from the sinking boat.

  9. 9 My Geek Fat Big Wedding

I think the constitution has to be changed to allow for 3 mandates. In the end he always got it right in the Service Pack 3…

This is a scary thought. Right now we are justing getting to the point that microsoft does not have a manopoly. If Bill Gates is president the government will just give complete control over to Microsoft to do as they please.

Hey, if an aging kill, crush and destroy ex-movie actor can be elected governor in the State of California (what the heck does he know about government) then I see no reason why Bill Gates cannot be elected President of the United States. If he can run one of the biggest corporaations in the world successfully (and at a profit, I might add), then it seems to me he might just be able to do the same with running a country. He couldn’t do any worse than the present oval office occupant now, could he? Why doesn’t some ask him?

Are we really that desperate? Oh wait George Bush is president…never mind lol!
But seriously folk, although I do like the fact that he’s not going to try to speed up the rapture, I don’t think he has a clue about people who are drastically different from himself. His philanthropy is great, but something makes me think he won’t understand (or has lost touch with) what us broke ass, underdogs are going through. I have had enough of seeing the same old rich, out of touch, White male presidents already, so let’s at least consider thinking outside of the power paradigm for once. The current crop of White, male elitists we have been choosing from (since my birth in 1973 anyway) has done great, for people of their kind, but it looks like (from here on out) it’s going to take a bit more of an open mind seeing as we live in a world with other people and everything. Actually, I wouldn’t be one bit surprised to see Gates take the White House in 2008 (more likely 2012). However, I am surprised that he’s an Atheist though…all that money.

    D’oh

Sorry, that’s Homer Simpson, not Dilbert.

All you people swooning over Bill’s philanthropy… so easily bought? Does it not matter how someone earns their money? Bill is a convicted monopolist who earned his money by sabotaging his competitors’ software. He did it by controlling the operating system that runs all Windows software. That’s the equivalent of putting nails in the tires of your opponents’ cars in the Daytona 500 because you control the track. How would you like it if I broke into your house, stole all your stuff and gave it to charity? I bet you’d rather see me in jail than in office. But when criminals make lots of money, we tend to go easy on them. Deep down they’re just like us, aren’t they? Not like the seething unwashed masses who steal bread to live. Those people ought to be executed.

Philanthropy is wonderful, as long as the money you’re giving away is your own and not someone else’s.

Let’s put on our thinking caps, people!!

Seems to me all the complaints about Bill Gates being a crook make good pro- president arguments. After all, who have we elected to the office of President who hasn’t been at least a little crooked. Seems like a prerequisite for he job when you stop and think about it.

Who do you want, the crooked bastard who intimidates interns into giving blow jobs, the crooked bastard whose cronies mkae big bucks off lots of dead soldiers or the crooked bastard whose software makes the world able to communicate? I know which one I’d chose.

I think Gates would be great for our economy. Our biggest problem in the US is competition from India and China. Let him use that Microsoft strategy to crush their economy just like he did with Netscape.

Of course the rest of the world may end up hating the guy but who cares as long as he’s taking care of his people. Then again that may have some backlash from other countries.

On the bright side he wouldn’t take bribes from large companies, China or sell arms to rogue nations. With the crop we’ve had in recent memory I’d vote for him.

  16. 16 Lug-Atic

If Bill Gates were be president, we´re going to Ctrl Alt Spr the United States soon…

  17. 17 Luke

We know he is a convicted monopolist, skillful lobbyist, and that he pulled many dirty tricks to get his own in the business world.

What is his political affiliation though? Whose mandate would he be running on?

What is his stance on the war? How about national security? Or emigration? Or unemployment? Or taxes? Or minimum wage?

What are his views on education, health care and social security?

How would he fix our budget deficit? Is he for big government? Is he one of the trickle-down republitards?

We don’t know. And these are the kinds of questions we should be asking about any candidate. Running a country is very different from running a successful business. Democracy is not about making profit, but about serving the interest people to the best of your ability. We know he can turn a profit by ruthless, merciless business cunning. But can he run a country? That is the important question.

I feel at home on this website… check the layout on mine. ;) Anyway, I don’t live in USA so I can’t vote for Mr. Gates but I probably would if I could.

Just because he is a billionaire doesn’t mean he will be a great president. Look at his company he stole code and has forcefully took over companies. Just because he donates money to charities and help them out still don’t mean he knows anything about politics. If people vote for him then us Americans are morons and vote because they are Rich and by the name. You think they he would be Fair to other OSes? and do you think drm is bad now, he would be all for it and make it worse. Not a good choice for president. Vote for someone who knows what they are doing. Vote for a politician not a Mafia leader.

  20. 20 KGIII

He’s not a “convicted monopolist.” People seem prone mistake corporate (and non-criminal) trials for having a bearing on one single person when it is just the opposite.

One person doesn’t control the enterprise nor are they ultimately accountable for it unless they, themselves, perpetrated the acts.

Granted, Bill probably did. He’s just never been tried or convicted in a criminal trial.

Having said that, I’d likely vote for him. Why not? We’ve had far lesser people elected into office in the past and perhaps currently but I’ll not delve into politics that much. My views aren’t typical and thus aren’t generally fit for expressing in public. ;)
